And more importantly, how can you get out of your own way?<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Questions to Help You Determine if You\u2019re Self-Sabotaging:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>What goals or dreams do I have that I\u2019ve kept putting off, or never seem to reach?<\/p>\n<p>Am I struggling to feel motivated for something I KNOW I want to have\/do\/be?<\/p>\n<p>Do I tend to wreck my relationships with friends, lovers, or family with anger, careless behavior, or jealousy?<\/p>\n<p>Is there a particular area of my life in which my friends, family, or co-workers\/boss get frustrated with me a lot?<\/p>\n<p>Do I procrastinate a lot in a particular area?<\/p>\n<p>Do I spend a fair amount of time focusing on or worrying about things that simply don\u2019t matter?<\/p>\n<p>Do I have a tendency to start things, but never finish them?<\/p>\n<p>Am I a \u201cworrier\u201d when know I should be a warrior?<\/p>\n<h3><strong>5 Steps for Getting Unstuck From the Habits of Self-Sabotage:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Okay. You know this is something you do. You\u2019ve done it before, and you wish desperately you could stop.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the 5 gentle things you need to do to get unstuck from the habits of self-sabotage\u2026<\/p>\n<h3><strong>1. Name the Thing You Desire or Dream Of, but Can\u2019t Seem to Achieve<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It sounds obvious, but sometimes not being able to name what you want out of life, work, or a relationship is the exact thing holding you back.<\/p>\n<p>If you can\u2019t name your destination, it\u2019s hard to know which path to take to get there, right?<\/p>\n<h3><strong>2. Figure Out Exactly What Scares or Intimidates You<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Why is _______ so scary?<\/p>\n<p>Is there something about _______ that I think I couldn\u2019t handle?<\/p>\n<p>Why do I think that I can\u2019t do ________?<\/p>\n<p>Is my fear about _________ bigger or more important than my dream\/goal?<\/p>\n<p>Am *I* more powerful than this fear I have? Why or why not?<\/p>\n<p>The more you make self-reflection a part of your daily habits, the clearer you will get on what things are truly motivating you toward self-sabotage.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>3. Claim the Deeper Facts, Rather Than the Emotional Judgments<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Sometimes all you can think of is what\u2019s going WRONG. And that\u2019s a self-sabotage behavior itself.<\/p>\n<p>With a little bit of thought (and a good friend who knows and loves you well will be able to help you with this), you can reframe the way you are thinking, and prevent self-sabotage:<\/p>\n<p>I failed\u2026 vs\u2026 That task was incredibly hard<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m no good\u2026 vs\u2026 I have some tough history or past issues that tripped me up<\/p>\n<p>This will never work\u2026 vs\u2026 Are there some small steps toward success that I haven\u2019t considered yet?<\/p>\n<p>I can\u2019t do it\u2026 vs\u2026 There are resources that I need in order to try that again<\/p>\n<p>This is impossible\u2026 vs\u2026 Is there a different way to achieve this goal<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m just not ready\u2026 vs\u2026 It doesn\u2019t have to be perfect<\/p>\n<h3><strong>4. Remind Yourself About Your Goals, Every Day<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Start each day with that vision of what you want in life, and a few simple, do-able steps that you intend to take toward your goals.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t let a bad day here and there interrupt your steady trek toward the things you dream of. Everyone has bad days, and even bad seasons.<\/p>\n<p>But you don\u2019t have to let hard, messy, or stressful times stop you from trying again.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>5. Let Go of Things That DON\u2019T Align With Your Goals and Dreams<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Very often a big part of self-sabotage has to do with the inability to say \u201cno.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But when you spend all your time doing things for other people, you often neglect your own dreams and desires.<\/p>\n<p>You are worth ALL the joy and peace and fulfillment you dream of.
