REASON #1: He\u2019s\u00a0<em>Flooded<\/em>\u2026<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Women typically feel\u00a0<em>more<\/em>\u00a0like a woman the\u00a0closer\u00a0they are to the man in their life. The more time she spends with him, feeling that connection they\u2019re building, the\u00a0<strong>more<\/strong>\u00a0she feels whole as a woman.<\/p>\n<p>But this is not so with guys.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>The truth about relationships<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0that many women find painful to hear is that while men are very often completely into having a girlfriend\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2013\u00a0he still needs his space\u00a0to feel like a man.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Men_need_time_away_from_a_relationship_in_order_to_feel_that_they_are_still_men\"><strong>Men need time away from a relationship in order to feel that they are still men.<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>So many men find themselves torn about this tug-of-war they experience in a relationship. On one hand, we really do enjoy connecting and bonding with you. But after a while, we feel\u00a0<strong>flooded<\/strong>from all the emotions and time we spent with you.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Flooding is the term for when we feel that our emotional capacity is overwhelmed and we need space to breathe.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Men are very easily flooded\u2026<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>I wish I could tell you that this changes significantly the longer you\u2019re together. But in reality, over time, a man simply learns to work through his feelings a bit more quickly and easily. So the time shortens up. However, he will always need time alone and away from the relationship to recharge.<\/p>\n<p>The women that understand this key difference between how men and women feel in relationships are the ones that have the most solid, enduring connection to their man. She will recognize when he\u2019s feeling antsy and stressed, and give him his space.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, if you really want to create an unbreakable bond with your man \u2013 try to be the\u00a0<strong>FIRST<\/strong>\u00a0one to suggest some time apart.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, you heard me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>YOU<\/strong>\u00a0ask for the time away from him\u00a0<em><strong>FIRST<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The fact of the matter is that there is always someone in the relationship who is more\u00a0<strong>INTO<\/strong>\u00a0the relationship than the other. There\u2019s always a slight imbalance in the desire to jump right in and create an intimate relationship.<\/p>\n<p>And yes, usually it\u2019s\u00a0<em><strong>the guy.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>FACT:<\/strong>\u00a0 When it\u2019s HIM feeling this need for space, he\u2019s going to find a way to pull away in order to catch a breather. It\u2019s just like a rest during an athletic event, where he has to catch his breath.<\/p>\n<p>If you understand this fact, and don\u2019t panic or try to hold on too tight,\u00a0<em>you\u2019ll do just fine.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>You\u2019ll<\/strong>\u00a0go out with your girlfriends and chill, instead of sending him manic texts at 3:00 AM\u2026<\/li>\n<li><strong>You\u2019ll<\/strong>\u00a0push him away to do his thing while you do your thing\u2026 and he\u2019ll be calling you back up much quicker than the last time\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It almost always works \u2013\u00a0<strong>if<\/strong>\u00a0you have the self-control to do it right.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and there\u2019s also a very real possibility that he\u2019s just busy and needs some time to catch up. Men use peace and quiet and aloneness to recharge. It\u2019s the way we\u2019re built.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Men_think_linearly_not_parallel_multi-tasking\"><strong>Men think linearly, not parallel multi-tasking.<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>So a relationship can feel like a burden when he\u2019s trying to get caught up, or he just wants to get some things done in his life.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"8220Let8217s_Take_A_Break8221_8211_Why_REASON_2_He8217sTrying_To_Break_Up_Nicely8230\">\u201cLet\u2019s Take A Break\u201d \u2013 Why? REASON #2: He\u2019s\u00a0Trying To Break Up Nicely\u2026<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There is the very real possibility that he tells you\u00a0<strong>he wants to take a break<\/strong>\u00a0because he\u2019s actually wanting\u00a0<strong>out of the relationship<\/strong>. Some guys just don\u2019t have the directness to just say they want to break up.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s be real \u2013\u00a0<em>it\u2019s an easy out.<\/em>\u00a0If I say \u201cbreak\u201d I might just be hinting at \u201c<strong>break up<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve had a few girlfriends who used this one on me without me realizing it, too. It\u2019s not uncommon for both sexes to use this as an\u00a0<em>excuse<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes it\u2019s used as a way to go have sex with another person.\u00a0 Hey when you\u2019re on a \u201cbreak\u201d you\u2019re not actually tied to the relationship (this is what\u00a0<strong>he<\/strong>\u00a0is thinking, by the way, so be aware.) So if he bangs some other girl on your break, technically it\u2019s not cheating.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s his way of sneaking in a \u201chall pass\u201d for some novelty sex with another woman.<\/p>\n<p><strong>However, it\u2019s a\u00a0lot\u00a0less frequent than you might think.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Either way, he\u2019s looking for something outside of the one-on-one devotion you might have in your relationship. Which means you should probably also take a good look at how\u00a0<em>into him<\/em>\u00a0<strong>you are<\/strong>\u00a0versus how\u00a0<em>into you<\/em>\u00a0<strong>he is.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If there\u2019s a disparity in your feelings of desire,\u00a0<strong>the difference between your feelings is what you need to address first.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Take a good long look at your feelings vs. his and figure out what\u2019s going on. If you sense he\u2019s actually looking for a way out, your best option is to \u2013<\/p>\n<p><strong>BREAK UP WITH HIM FIRST!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oh, I know that\u2019s left you startled\u2026<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve coached women on this in the past, and I know this is the hardest thing to actually do. Primarily because at this point in the relationship, a woman is already in a panic state at the thought of losing him.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BUT<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 if you can do it, it\u2019s probably\u00a0the only way\u00a0to salvage your relationship.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>If<\/strong>\u00a0you\u2019re clinging, he\u2019ll feel that\u2019s all the more reason he shouldn\u2019t be with you and will just disappear and ignore you\u2026<\/li>\n<li><strong>If<\/strong>\u00a0he\u2019s going to feel attraction for you again, it\u2019s got to be because he\u2019s suddenly thrown into doubt about how much he controls you. If you dump him first, it will send his system reeling into\u00a0<em><strong>Reality Check\u2026<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>If<\/strong>\u00a0you want to salvage your self-esteem,\u00a0<em>you have to end it first.<\/em>\u00a0It\u2019s the only way you feel the control over your situation. And you\u2019ll feel incredibly empowered to be the one making the decision for you, instead of him doing it\u2026<\/li>\n<li><strong>If<\/strong>\u00a0you\u2019re worried about making a mistake here,\u00a0don\u2019t worry.\u00a0<em>If he really was interested<\/em>, he\u2019ll fight to keep you. If he doesn\u2019t, you didn\u2019t want him anyway.\u00a0<em><strong>Think about it.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you think he\u2019s going to break up with you,\u00a0<strong>do it first<\/strong>. It\u2019s\u00a0always\u00a0the best move.<\/p>\n<h2><span id=\"8220Lets_See_Other_People8221_8211_Why_REASON_3_He8217sRe-Evaluating_Your_Relationship8230\">\u201cLets See Other People\u201d \u2013 Why? REASON #3: He\u2019s\u00a0Re-Evaluating Your Relationship\u2026<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>There\u2019s a place a guy gets to where he knows he has to decide if this relationship is something he wants. When he gets to this place, he will\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong>\u00a0be making that decision\u00a0<em>with you<\/em>, sorry to say.<\/p>\n<p>Women might think in terms of talking things out with a guy. But\u00a0<strong>men need to make this decision\u00a0on their own.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He might be trying to figure out where things are going for him\u2026<\/p>\n<p>He might be thinking about\u00a0<strong>proposing<\/strong>, and he wants to\u00a0make sure\u00a0it\u2019s the right decision\u2026<\/p>\n<p>You might even think you can have a say in this process. You might want to have\u00a0your\u00a0day in court. To testify and tell him about all the stuff\u00a0you want him to recognize\u00a0about your relationship. To\u00a0<strong>make sure<\/strong>he doesn\u2019t walk away without recognizing your worth\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>But don\u2019t do it.<\/strong>\u00a0That\u2019s a sure fire way to fail.<\/p>\n<p>And there\u2019s a good chance this is a small\u00a0<strong>test<\/strong>\u00a0at the same time.
